Portrait Gallery

Gather RI’s Portrait Gallery is one of the world’s only permanent galleries dedicated entirely to portraiture of women and gender expansive people. From Rhode Island to across the globe, our growing collection and yearly shows highlight the historic and ongoing impact of women and gender expansive people. Our thematic rotating shows feature newly commissioned portraits as well as facsimiles of archival and modern day images. Portraiture is visual biography, melding artistic expression with historical interpretation. We invite you to stop in and leave inspired.

Biographical Library

Our Biographical Library collects and shares the lives of women and gender expansive individuals. Currently documenting more than 2,000 lives from Rhode Island neighborhoods to international communities, this living library serves as both inspiration and evidence that we are not alone, we are part of a cohort. We invite you to peruse our shelves, find a role model, and know that you too are changing the world every day. Visit us again and again as our collection grows.

Patio

Our gated patio is a hidden treasure nestled off bustling Broadway. Relax with friends, surrounded by illuminated trees and flourishing greenery while listening to a burbling fountain.

Haven

The Haven is open to members-only and is a plant-filled conservatory replete with cozy seating areas and artwork. Gather with your friends – or come alone and meet a new friend. You are sure to leave refreshed.

Meeting Room

Our intimate Meeting Room includes a gathering table and chairs as well as a cozy recessed bench. Enjoy the vibrant mid-century colors and decor as sunlight streams into the room from large windows overlooking our patio.

Grand Room

A room designed for lively conversation, book clubs, learning circles, and more. You will be treated to original artwork and comfortable furnishings as well as a growing collection of books on topics ranging from friendship to women and gender history. A well-lit space with large windows, it is the perfect space for your next gathering.

Nook

A semi-private space within The Haven, The Nook features comfortable chairs and couches. Enjoy a view into the terrace through our floor-to-ceiling windowed wall and find respite in the gentle murmur of our interior fountain.

Terrace

Our rooftop terrace is shaded by a mature tree and features small tables as well as a dining table under a pergola. You will hardly believe that you are just steps away from Broadway. Sit on the terrace with some friends or reserve it for a gathering.
